1988 Corvette Coupe - Bright Red
I recently purchased a brilliant red 1988 C4 coupe. The entire car is red, including the seats, and the interior is trimmed in wood grain. When I first saw the car, I could not believe this. The wood grain, to me, did not fit the car. So, after I bought the car, I special ordered a dash kit (carbon fiber red and black) to replace the wood grain. Several weeks passed. Finally, the kit came in this week. Ironically, the wood grain does not seem so shocking to me now, and I am now wondering how the carbon fiber will look. Have you seen the carbon fiber dashes in the C4's? Would you go for the carbon fiber or stick with the wood grain? Thanks!

Wow, that's a tough call. Beauty is in eye of the beholder.

I personally like the woodgrain, but CF looks cool too.

Post some pics and we will vote on it.

I am a woodworking teacher and love wood, but I think the CF wood look better myself. But like AZJoD suggested, you're the one that has to live with it. Whatever you decide, we want pictures!:w

I always thought wood grain looked out of place mixed with the gee-whiz, star wars dash of the early C4's.

That's just my 1 cent. (adjusted for current economic conditions).

I have often thought about going with the wood grain in my CE. With my red interior, I believe the look would be cool.

The wood grain kits I have seen installed do look very nice.

Up to you, more than anything.

SAVE THE :w

I agree with ZumZum's assessment. The Vette with the digital dash is too high tech for wood. However, with a tan interior I think it does look decent. I'm not so sure that teh red and black was the best choice with the red interior....too much red as you probably are thinking yourself. The black/black or Black/grey might be justa little "upgrade" from the oem look without going overboard.
Personally I prefer carbon fiber...I have them in all my cars. I'm a CF addict! I wouldnt mind changing my county's name to Carbon Fiber County.

From the car dash, car parts ski's and poles, bicycle, helmets, pocket knives, even my gun collection...if its available in CF I seroiously consider buying it!
One point I'd like to make concerns any of the dash kits. Frequently they are overlays that glue to the console. Many actually COVER the screw holes so you cant get the parts off! :W
