...we were playing hide & seek thru interstate traffic - went for 4th, pulled it a bit to far to the left and hit 2nd! ;squint:

Starting to visit a few websites - New or Rebuild:

Well,Well,Well Dee'wayne,You've certainly stepped on your Pecker this time!!!:D:D:D
In all seriousness after talking to you Shooter,You probly just have some Bent Push Rods and maybe a Broken Rocker Arm or two!! LS1 and LS2's are known to do it!! ;shrugI've done the same thing, never had to go any deeper than the valve covers and intake!!Except for breaking a transmission case!!:boogie I broke 3 Exhaust springs on my LS6 BB in the big truck on the way to Florida, made it the rest of the way down and back with a load on!! Damn thing ran good, just sounded like a Thrashing Machine and Missed like heck at idle!!:D:D:D

ouch!

i got to watch that happen to a honda in my rear view once when he tried to race me in my m3 a couple years back:D

I'm surprised Junk just didn't drive on out some eve to look at it:D

I think I remember Dale Jr. doing the same thing.

OUCH! Hope it isn't as bad as you think Shooter!

I did that very same thing in my BMW. I was passing someone, I was at redline in 3rd, went for 4th and ended up in 2nd. :mad

Had the car towed to the dealer. They charged me $1,200 just to take the head off and tell me the engine was blown! They wanted another 12K to replace the motor. I had asked around and found a shop that specialized in BMW's. Had the care taken there. It still cost me 10K to get the motor replaced (almost 9K just for the motor).

The blown motor is in my garage now. I tore it down. Found 3 or 4 bent exhaust valves, a couple dished out pistons and a timing chain that had slipped a couple links... :eyerole

Lets hope your money shift is not as expensive as mine was!

After my money shift, I did some research on proper shifting techniques. Here is a link to a really good article I found: http://www.waycoolinc.com/z3/essentials/fixit/heeltoe/shifting.htm

Steve - Junk did offer: Yes da NASCAR boys do this every-now and then! :w

After talking with Paul & Junk about what happened and the way it's running I think all I have is possibly a few bent push rods, Junk said LS1's are pretty tough engines.

Kerri's going to drive the Vette back home mid week to a GM dealership friend who's going to have his Top Techs diagnose/repair and possible add a few horsepower enhancements. :cool

I've always believed that things happen for a reason, and if I were you I'd use this as an excuse to get yourself a new brand new yellow/black/black 2009 with 430+ hp. Explain to the MRS that you can never let a car like that embarrass a vette like that again!;)

John - I forgot to mention even with my bad shift, the BMR lost our game of hide and seek! :cool

The Yellow Roadster still runs fine and will of course run better in a week or so, pretty sure we'll have it for several more years.

Thoughts are to purchase an 08 Z51 Paddle-Shift Roadster down the road...

;LOL;LOL;LOLI think the 1 of the Loose Nuts Behind the Steering Wheel needs Tightened Up a little Too!!!:boogie:boogie:boogie:thumb:D

I WAS going to stay out of this, but there is no need to be so nasty to an Engineer that has spent about as much time at the Corvette Plant as our pal Dwayne has.

He's a relatively nice guy and doesn't deserved to be beat up for missing a shift, hell most 15 and 16 years old do it quite often. Dwayne doesn't deserve to be beat up about this!!. Hope he starts taking better care of his car and doesn't let it get so dirty/dusty/grimey and starts to drive it bit more responsibly and puts the top down, Just take it out for a NICE Drive :boogie ... I bet he drives the Monster Hauling Pickup more :rotfl (at least for a while now :D )

Sorry to hear about WHAT YOU did to your poor car Dwayne :nono you've been a bad boy :Buttslap

Get'r fixed ;) and we'll see ya on down the road, my Friend :upthumbs

Bud - Thanks for your input, but you know what they say...

...if you play your going to pay!

I've grown use to taking a few hits from da CAC family, heck I started the thread knowing full well a few would be coming my way! ;)

Would we, your Corvette bretheren here at CAC, throw a few shots your way, Dwayne? Perish the thought. ;)

Although, now I say that, Remo is off his winter meds. If I were you, I'd start fortifying your bunkers before he finds this thread.
:chuckle

I'm pretty sure Remo's been monitoring this thread already...

...I remember telling Remo during my Transportational Services for him & Guy's Lingenfelter/Ft. Wyane Visit, that if something happened to my LS1 it would probably be tweaked a bit. :thumb

Sorry for "assuming" Dwayne, but when ya didn't say how it ended, well.......

I feel much better now .:D I hope the vette's back on the road soon.

-John

You're Damn Right I've Been Monitoring This Thread

Dwayne,

The time is right for the trip to Lingenfelter Performance Engineering. I talked to Tim Dyer over the weekend and they can take the car within the next two weeks. The boys in Decatur are ready to rock. My recommendation is either the 450 HP cam and heads or the 500 HP supercharger. Either package has a 36k warranty. Well within reason.....I don't think they'll cover a missed shift.:L

John - The Yellow Roadster is my daily mode of transportation, it handled the trip to Spring Hill Mfg. just fine this morning, but a few of the lifters do sound a bit like a singer sewing machine...

Remo - Right now I plan on da boys back home @ the GM Dealership working on it, but thanks for checking with the Lingenfelter for me...
