Here it is next to the custom TR maisto I did with a Mod Red interior...

and that mod-red interior...
(ooops - that pic is kinda big - not a huge file, but too big for a thread pic IMO - here is a link if you have the interest...)

Hi corvettecrazy -

Another idea I have seen is to use optic fiber cable and route light to the lenses...I will have to see what I can come upt with.

Here are a couple of shots with the CB antenna and bracket in 1:18 -

Looks Great!

I did an Ertl of my 62 a while back with the exception of painting the hard top, I'm the worst thing that ever happened to paint, spray, brush, roller, whatever. My problem is, trying to find someone that can make an L88 hood for it to be an exact replica 1/18th. I even bought a "donor" car for parts. There's a catagory for diecast if you look under forums and at one point, there were some awesome pictures being posted there.

Blue LED's acting as spotlights on car, good example of fogs. And yes the inside is glowing green. There are also painted parts on the inside, but you can't see them at that angle.

That's amazing- and captivating! I love it! Sort of like a cross between a Z06 owner's dream, and something off the Sci-Fi Channel. Note to ricers: "Resistence Is Futile! And No, We Won't Be Assimilating Your Sorry Fart Can Import! Waste Of Effort!"

(Now, if I could just get those dreams where Jeri Ryan propositions me to come true.)

Hi corvettecrazy -

That is cool how you did that - I would like to know where you get your LED's - and how you power them...very interesting.

I saw a great tutorial at Brians Model Cars website - one fellow used fiber optic strands from a cheap Xmas tree decoration. He rigged up a box made of styrene sheet, and created two compartments in the box - for two colors of light -

He did "white" light and red light. He also ran fibers up to the dash, so the dash looked like it was on, the radio etc...all in a 1:25 plastic model!

I know it could be done in a 1:18 Maisto or Bburago.

I like your idea of just using the LED's in place...

Thanks Rowdy1 - I will look at that forum -

I like the 1:18 of your car. You say you bought the donor L88?

Just use your dremel and some JB weld - it shouldn't be too hard to do - I would be a lot easier than cutting your real '62 hood...:m

That's The Problem

No, I bought a "donor" 62, so I'd have an extra hood to try to make an L88 for mine. Anything with a stock L88 hood won't fit the 62 body so I have to fabricate something, someday.

Hi smook -

I did! Thanks for noticing - all I do there is tighten the suspension screws down and play with it until the desired look is achieved.

I just need 1:18 CCW 505As....

And thanks TBV - I appreciate it. :beer
