I took apart my door other day to fix a broken handle and try to get rid of some window rattle and noticed that the plastic that goes in between the door and the door cover looked like hell. It was hardly glued on and the glue was smudged all over the place. Is cutting my own new piece from a roll of plastic my only option for replacing this? What glue should I use in this case?

Cut your own piece of heavy mil plastic. As for attaching it, I've used upholstery/carpet adhesive in the past and it's worked. There's probably a silicone adhesive out there that would work just fine as well.

hey thanks. Looks like I'll have to get a little crafy next time I have the thing apart.

plastic liner

I found that one of my liners was missing so I got some heavy duty plastic ( like they used in the 70's to protect carpet-some still do!) from the hardware store. I used the other liner as a template ( Just a reverse veiw) cut it out and then used a "mastic tape" around the door frame to fix it. The "mastic" is like a putty and never hardens so you can remove the plastic when ever and it can be re-used.
