Yesterday I struggled through the changing of my O2 sensors, they look as if they where the original ones (120,000 miles). Needless to say I managed to get the new ones installed without any problems. I then started my engine and smoke poured out of the exhaust, no big deal it went away. Now for my problem, I am getting a "Service Engine Soon" light every so often, but then it goes away and then comes back. I was wondering if this is normal, meaning the computer is "learning" the new o2 senors, or could I have a problem. Now since I have owned this car it has every so often idled rough, almost dieing, as if it was starving for gas or air. I was hoping changing the o2 sensors would cure this problem. Now the engine runs fine for a little bit, but right before the "Service Engine Soon" light illuminates the engine bogs down a little. Now I have put a scanner on this and the only codes it read where in the "History" which said my engine was running lean. I cleared the codes and have yet to get them to come back, but the problem still is happening. Could this be that I have had a problem all along and my old o2 sensors where not sensing it? Could I have some bad o2 sensors installed, the scanner says they are "ready"? Sorry for writing a story, but I want to give as much information as possible. Thank you very much and have a good New Year.
