Power Effects Exhaust...... Anyone have it??

FX GS said:
Considering getting the PE capsules (mufflers) but if you run with them open most of the time, why not just get muffler eliminators and save a ton of $$$?
Would not the result be the same plus you would save alot of weight.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?

You are correct. If you don't think resonance will be a problem for you hearing it all the time, enjoy the sound of muff elims and saving weight is a big issue, then muff elims may be for you.

I can tell ya, it ain't for me. I don't like the sound of muff elims. The PE sound, blows it away. Keep in mind sound is very subjective. You can eliminate the resonance if you get tired of it by closing the flaps. I adjust the flaps when I'm autocrossing. Shutting them down some and having more back pressure gives it more bottom end torq. At the 1/4 mile, I open them up all the way and on Dyno runs. I'm very picky on how my tailpipes look and how well the mufflers look. The PE capsules tuck up real nice. The resonance is alittle louder now that I installed the Random cat converters. This PE use to be installed on my 91 auto w/2.59 rear and stock converters. It did not have any resonance at all.
If you come around again and hook up with 89x2, let me know. I give you a first hand demo.

One thing I'd like to add here if I may. The people at Lawrence-Keech, Inc., the manufacturer's of the Power Effects and Side effects systems, are wonderful people with whom to do business. I've spoken with Joe Markovicz several times, and he was more than helpful when I was trying to figure out how to deal with my new engine's exhaust. He was also very friendly, and seemed genuinely concerned and willing to help any way he can. :cool

Yes, Joe is a first rate guy. He will mail out to you articles and info on the exhaust if you wish.

I agree. He spent a lot of time on the phone with me discussing the PE's.
Only problem right now is that they are out of the tips for the capsules & he is not sure when they will be receiving them. They went with a new fabricator and with the new set up, its slowing things up right now. They only have a small set of capsules right now & when they are gone it could be a while till the new ones get produced.

I just might stick with the current set up. Just installed Exotic Muscle long tubes, no resonator, to Random Tech cats to the Walker Ultra Flow mufflers, which by the way are the ones installed by Callaway. (Interesting)
The car is really pulling a lot stronger now, especially on the low end.
The exhaust sound, in my opinion, is really sweet and with less resonance without the resonator! Just need to find a nice set of tips for the muffler to replace the current ones to make it look purty.

I am having the same problem here. I placed an order around December for the Side Effects exhaust system and he told me that they may have some in stock by mid-march but I called him back the other day and he said that the date is now indefinite. I canceled the order for the side pipes and switched to the Power Effects and he kindly gave me the price that they were selling for earlier in the year. I have to agree, Joe is extremely helpful.
