Ok you guys, according to my handy dandy book - it says to remove the power steering pump pulley while still on the car because you can't get to the power steering pump bolts until the pulley is out of the way. HOWEVER, a conventional pulley puller isn't gonna fit in this tight space...... does anyone have any advice?

You can buy a Kent-Moore "J-tool" specifically for removing pulleys on GM pumps. That's what you have to use. There are some other tool companies which also may make a similar tool.

actually, nevermind! I'm such a nincompoop. All I have to do is take the electric fan off and there should be plenty of room!

you will need a special puller to pull the PS pulley, then you can get at the bolts to remove the pump, I believe you can remove the whole bracket assembly also and then remove the pulley once off the car. Sometimes doing a little more work makes things easier.

On my 96 I was able to get it off using a universal p/s pully puller. Can't get a socket wrench on it or air gun , but use an open end and you should be good. It's pressed on tight but it'll go.
