HELP! Any ideas?

Last fall I replaced the control valve and slave cylinder to stop a leak on my 77.

Upon start up with the tires off the ground, the front wheels went into a violent shaking, so bad I thought the car would fall from the jack stands.

I have since replaced the pump and all the lines. There is no hydraulic part left unchanged. The shake is diminished, but it is still there. The valve is balanced.

The slightest movement L or R of the steering wheel and I can feel the entire car shudder.

Needless to say this has been a very expensive and frustrating, and I have no clue what else to check!

I wish I had my leak back!

Anyone have a similar experience?

Don

I had the same problem with the replaced the ram last year. Turns out the lines were into the ram were reversed. Once they rotated them and adjusted the ram everything was ok.

As suggested, are you sure the lines aren't crossed? Also, did you follow the control valve balancing procdure in the GM Service Manual?

I will double check the connection of the lines to the slave.

The valve is perfectly balanced. With the slave disconnected and the engine at idle, I can move the rod in or out by hand easily and the rod stays put when I let go.
