Project 59 exhaust system

Well he found the problem today. The rear sway bar was bottoming out on the frame before it settled to the spring. Removed bar and problem pretty much solved. He is going to use the spring we picked up yesterday. I think its a 285/290 lb flat arch spring. Gary indicated he can make springs in a batchs of 4 and is considering doing a batch for these type of projects.
He is using a frame made by someone here in Florida, the body was made years ago. He thinks in Bradenton but it has been kicking around for quite some time.
He also got cold feet on posting pictures of his body ideas before getting the car done. Sooo they will have to wait but I do have pictures that will show how his ideas changed over time.
Thanks for all who have posted thier experiences as they are giving us a much beter picture of the problems we can expect and how to solve them.

Wanted to add to this thread some additional information as it talks about suspension. We worked with VBP to get some kind of springs that will work. He ended up with a very flat 175 lb spring on the front. It has about 3 in of arch. It has dropped the front down where he wants, not sure about the 175 spring rate yet as it may be too soft. Did the same with the rear spring, flatened and reduced the load rating. Its taken awhile to convince VBP just how light the car is in order to get the right springs. Top of front fender is about 25 in off the ground and the suspension is the same height as a 93.

It a treat to watch this guy work to get just the right look to the car. I convinced him to get a digital camera and document his many iterations so I can show the transformations once he gits it done.

The project looks outstanding. The quaility of your work shows your a true craftsman. Its truley a pleasure for me to veiw the photos.I can see the hours, days, months you have invested in the project(not to mention the money) and I also understand that you do all the work yourself,I sincerly canot put it into words my admeration of the work you have done on this project (including the the body dolly you made)

Great job and you should be very proud

PS whats with the oil pan is that custom also

Almost 14 months later I am bringing this thread back to re-afirm what I said about John McGraws workmanship. I just spent the night in the garage installing the exchaust on my 62. (still not done I just have the drivers side roughed in) it is nearley impossible to snake an exchaust system in thru this frame.
I was smart enough to ask john what he would different and he said use a
2 1/4" excaust.Well I wasnt smart enough to change it on my list that I ordered it from and I ended up getting a 2 1/2" exchaust sytem and when I tell you it barely fits,it bareley fits. I still font know how he got everthing so even.

Once again John Great Work
