Wow! Street engine?????

The response is instant. The pull amazing. As big as the rear rubber is, I can feel them squirming like a toad-on-the-road up to half way through 2nd and 3rd.

I can't wait to replace the 5,000rpm pill with the 6. :D

The main difference between this and the old 435 is that the response is there no matter what rpm I'm at. I can launch without bringing the revs up high.......punch it and the torque bangs me so far back in the seat, I had my wife check my back for spring damage when I got home. ;)

Forgot to wear my earplugs again. Ring-ring-ring-ring. :crazy

492 miles and counting :D

C'mon Bowling Green.

Was your wife able to do anything about the GRIN on your face? That is one sweet ride!

Bob,

Are you happy with the new transmission/rear gearing combination you went with and would you change anything in that regard?

Thanks,
Doug

I can't wait to see the Vette and hear it if possible.. I'm a little green :D

Doug,

I was a little too cautious when choosing the rear gears. I was used to running 4.56:1 with the Muncie 4-speed.

So, I chose 3.08:1 with the Richmond 5-speed, figuring that was as far as I'd want to go. But, this engine has so much torque I could have easily gone up into the 2's for the rear gears. Oh well, this car is capable of more top end than I'll ever have a place to use anyway.

Even with the 3.08's, first gear is just about useless when you get on it hard from a dead stop.

:W Oh boy! oh boy! oh boy!!! You gotta get a video cam!!! :W

Ahhh...So...This means I'm in for a Hell Of A Ride with my 3:36 Diff and the Keisler 3:27 First gear Ratio and my Saftey Valve Rear 215X70RX15 Tires.........

Oh Boy.... :L

Is your life insurance paid up? I've got a lot more rubber than you and it's freakin' crazy.

Bob,

You really must have the patiance of a saint, I would have asked the wife is there anything you need me to get you from the store as an excuse to put the miles on tonight.

So that was the rumble I heard tonight eh Bob.
And all the way to pickering to, not bad. :lou

Mart,

It's a strange feeling to really get on it. As the revs build and things start to get out of control, I'm thinking, "Very cool, but it'll end soon".

But it doesn't end soon. It just gets scarier......so I bang another gear and here we go again. :crazy

I swear, this setup is more than equal to the best my racing 427 engine ever ran, even with wide open headers.

Do I miss the 7,000rpm capability of the old engine? Hell no! It's all about the torque baby. :_rock

I can't even imagine Bob, hell I think my ole 86 has lots of torque, :L but 67 must have oodles to spare.

After all, how often are ya gonna use the speed you'll get from 6-7000 rpms, but 5-600 ft lbs can come in handy.

Would not want to meet you at the stoplight, and with that suspension setup you're making the turns real scary for us too.

The way I see it is like this, We take off on green and head for the on ramp, OK you beat me there, maybe, just maybe, I catch you in the turn, (I just put poly throughout the rear, with new shocks so just humour me) OK I'm ahead coming on to the HWY when I hear this rumble, what the Hell is that I wonder. That's when Bob runs my azz over and leaves me in pitiful pile of plastic..

But damn was that fun.

Ask Z28Canuck if it corners. ;)

I guess I'm so juiced by the torque that I keep forgetting to rave about the fantastic handling from the VB&P suspension, the spreader bar, and the big wide rubber. :crazy

It's definitely going to take some time to soak it all in.

Bear with me people. I'm a kid in a candy store.

Jeez Bob, you're killin' me here...... The change in mine won't be as dramatic, but I know how you're feeling. A real adrenalin rush (and kind of scary) trying to find the limits of a new monster car. Keep the updates and comentary coming. See ya at Carlisle. I'll bring my earplugs.

So how far did you push today??? :naughty: :crazy
