Yeah I have the same problem.... However, it's inevitable that I will one day need to drive her somewhere early in the AM.

67HEAVEN, What raito 1st gear do you have in your Richmond 5 speed and do you have the optional "road race" model? John

I figure as long as my neighbor starts up his Ford 350 dually Diesel at 6:00 am - the gloves are off! I start up my 66 big block with side pipes any time I want - so long as its OK with the wife.

I have really enjoyed your progress updates - drive that baby!!

Ask Z28Canuck if it corners. ;)

I guess I'm so juiced by the torque that I keep forgetting to rave about the fantastic handling from the VB&P suspension, the spreader bar, and the big wide rubber. :crazy

It's definitely going to take some time to soak it all in.

Bear with me people. I'm a kid in a candy store.
I thought my Z28 cornered well but................:BOW . We were coming up on a sharp hairpin in townwhere everyone slows down at the 90 degree but we picked up speed and you could feel the car digging into the turn and would have easily handled way more if given the chance. Amazing feeling it pulling you through the bend like that! With the combinations you've done! Perfect!

Torque!!!!! Next time tell me when you're gonna "Tap" the pedal a touch so I can get ready, you don't know how uncomfortable it is to have my feet jump up around my ears and my Haines smack my chin! If I had false teeth I'd be going back to pick them up, but one good thing the jolt took 10 years off me cause the wrinkles and jowles I had out front are on the back of my neck now!;LOL . Unbelievable instant response:lou . Bob the '67 is one sweet ride, second to none, and is such a pleasure to experience. The looks and reactions as you cruise around town are half the fun of enjoying it. Lap it up, you earned it!

Can you pick me up Thursday I'd like to take off another 5 years if you don't mind!:D ANYTIME!

I thought I heard some thunder down here in WNY, but the sky was clear here. It must have been a Big Block!

It is enjoyable reading your posts!

Doug,

I was a little too cautious when choosing the rear gears. I was used to running 4.56:1 with the Muncie 4-speed.

So, I chose 3.08:1 with the Richmond 5-speed, figuring that was as far as I'd want to go. But, this engine has so much torque I could have easily gone up into the 2's for the rear gears. Oh well, this car is capable of more top end than I'll ever have a place to use anyway.

Even with the 3.08's, first gear is just about useless when you get on it hard from a dead stop.

What kinda power is your engine making? I've got 540hp/550tq out of my 454LS6 and I'm running Richmond 5-speed also with 2.73:1 rear. The torque is just awesome, even with my low gears I can stay on first gear around the town and managed to hit 178mph last summer and the car was still pulling strong!

The night I purchased my wifes C5 on the way home from kerbecks in atlantic city . I ran the C5 up to 158 and I ran out of road in a hurry.178 is real fast!

Wow! Street engine?????

The response is instant. The pull amazing. As big as the rear rubber is, I can feel them squirming like a toad-on-the-road up to half way through 2nd and 3rd.

I can't wait to replace the 5,000rpm pill with the 6. :D

The main difference between this and the old 435 is that the response is there no matter what rpm I'm at. I can launch without bringing the revs up high.......punch it and the torque bangs me so far back in the seat, I had my wife check my back for spring damage when I got home. ;)

Forgot to wear my earplugs again. Ring-ring-ring-ring. :crazy

492 miles and counting :D

C'mon Bowling Green.

Hey 67 - why don't you do a little video for the folks n post it here? :_rock

Oh n don't forget the SOUND! :D
