Quick question on a 1984 digital guage cluster/ odometer

My speedometer and tach do not work. The cluster lights up and the center display works fine. I noticed the odometer is not working. Will the odometer stop working because the speedometer does not work? If I replace my cluster will my odometer start working again or do I need a odometer motor? Thanks......

Your cluster needs to be checked and probably repaired. You may have a bad stepper motor or possibly the sender from the trans is bad. But, if the tach doesn't work as well, then test the cluster first.

If both the speedometer and the odometer don't work, it CAN'T be the stepper motor. That drives the odometer only. Go for the easy stuff first: Check the transmission sender (pulse generator).
Does your cruise control work? How about your trip odometer?
Did your speedometer and your tach quit at the same time? If they didn't, this could be two separate problems.
