The Modine radiator has been installed but now my electric fan does not ever engage. the fan worked yesterday and today it never turned on. the temp stayes around 200 when moving anywhere from 197-204 while in motion. if i let it idle for 3+ minutes sitting still it heats up again due to no air flow. please help!

LOL ;LOL ;LOL ;LOL

MoonUnit standard answer :crazy

Assuming you checked all electrical connections, nothing came loose.

84 fan doesn't come on untill the temp reaches 238 and shuts off at 201. This high temp is due to GM having to make it under the wire with emmision laws back then. You can get a switch to make it come on sooner from Mid America.

that wierd the fan used to come on and off all the time with out the temp saying 238? how can i check to see if the system is airlocked?

p.s. sorry im new to all of this and trying to learn.

No need to apologize...no one here knows everything.

You can only check and make sure the radiator is full and the overflow is at the proper level with an 84. Some cars after 84 have a valve you can bleed to get the air out. Let the car warm up to 238 to 240 ( you won't hurt it) make sure the fan come on then. I would also suggest that switch I talked about above. Part # 609-106 @ madvet.com Kicks fan(s) on at 200 and off at 185

If your fan isn't coming on at all, I suspect that something wasn't reconnected after your radiator was installed. Did you do it yourself or did a shop do it?

ok i got it sorted out, the fan kickes on at 232 degrees and then off again at like 210. i am going to order that switch you mentioned.

how hard is it to install this switch. i installe the radiator myself, no problems at all but electric stuff isnt my strong suit. thanks again guys for all the very informative responses. im going to look up the cost of that switch now!
