There is advertised in corvette specialty catalogue a "raincoat" ($330) to take the place of the roof panel when parked. Does anyone know if this is a good one for an 88 coupe?
Any fit issues etc? Are there other brands anyone recommends? I know they're not recommended for driving,but.....any experience out there? 30,40,50mph?
Then there are always the unpredictible gusts of wind from trucks cars and just the wind gusts on their own. Well mabe I wont. Any experience out there?

Corvette Raincoat

Hi John,

I have one for my 90 Vette. It works good but it is a temporary roof not to be used as a replacement. But my car is kept in a garage out of direct sun light so I leave it on the car in the summer months when car is in use. It's easy to install and comes with very good instructions. Light weight and easy to handle for putting it on and taking it off the car.

Light weight top

I purchased one for my 84. It attaches easily with bolts on each side of the upper windshield (no tools needed) and uses 4 Velcro strips at the back side. (these do not show) You don't have to worry about it blowing off at speed. I can handle it easily by myself as it folds in the center and stores in a special bag. I can't remember right off which Corvette vendor I purchased it from, but it is in one of the major catalogs. The only warning that came with it was not to take it off the car while it is still wet. Let it dry first. I have not had it in a major rain storm yet but I feel if it is attached correctly it will probably do the job. Unlike the hard top it takes up very little cargo space. It can be installed and removed very quickly without any tools. You do have to permanently attach a bracket on each corner of the windshield frame the contains a small round black knob that threads onto the studs that remain attached to the top, but these are hardly noticeable. If you cannot locate the supplier let me know and I will look it up.

RainCoat

Yep that's the one. I bought mine on ebay handles very well 380.00. There's another model that's only 150.00 not made for driving. Anyone who is interested make sure you get the right one. Enjoy!
