What do you all think about the new "A6 Attack Package"
(Corvetts- of- Westchester.com -NY state based? of a 3.15 or 3.42 ratio rear gears for your six-speed automatic??? price around 2K I'm told. Which would be the best for street & a little strip? ...pro's or con's anyone??????
Thanks...&:W A Merry Christman all....jb

Hi there,
NEITHER>
Fact is that the different ratios will NOT be calibrated into the transmission.
This will create very bad shift feel, incorrect line pressure bleed sequences and alot of other issues.
NOT a good mod.
Allthebest, c4c5

no dude, this mod will be great!...chuck does the tranny tune as part of the package...go 315s for the best of both worlds

My guess is that with the A6, which has a 4.03 first gear, if you have stock sized rear tires, you're gonna want to think carefully about 3.15s or 3.42. The car will be so easy to spin the tires that you may not gain much performance considering the cost.

But, first you're going to have to address "c4c5 Specialists" concerns with calibration.

Now if you can get the cal. right and you've got big sticky tires on the back, then a lower axle ratio might give you some better accel.

Hey Capt'n, if you're going after big power, then I would suggest looking @ the ZR1 rearend with axles. It eliminates wheel hop attributed to the harmonic frequencies caused by the "like" axles.

HI there,
Fact is, the magnetic ride control on ZR1 is the biggest change that fixes the wheel hop concern, would speculate about 1/2 - 3/4
2006 had equal length halfshafts, as stated, but the diameter of the shafts and joints help but is NOT a cureall.
The system suspension calibrations are the rest of the wheel hop formula. meaning the geometry and the spring rates.
The best way to avoid wheel hop is to drive the car smoothly.
And I have YET to find one aftermarket tuner, that can reliably tune a 6L80 for different gear ratios and shift points, without creating internal bushing wear.

my 06 z51 has the stock 256 diff and i just ordered a 315 for it, a good tuner can handle all the calibration issues. I'll let you know how it all goes, unfortunately it'll be awhile cause we have snow on the ground for a couple more months.
