Hi all,
I hear a noise o the rear right side since a few time . it is a noise of suspension. But I don't know what makes this noise. the shock absorbers do not make noise when I press on the car .the noise comes when the car changes supports ahead then back. what is the lifetime of F45 shock? is sway bar link can makes noise? or sway bar?rear spring?
I do not have any error code or message about the suspension. I
I lost adherence ,suspension are not like before.
help and council apprecied, its difficult in France to find good dealer.
thanks a lot

Welcome to the CAC!

I doubt that your F45 shocks would be worn out @ 18,500 miles. Mine have 62,000 miles on them (I think-- I'm not the original owner, so I don't know for sure), and still do okay. However, you very well might have something wrong with them. I wonder if the right rear shock might be "catching" as is compresses when the weight of the car is shifting to the rear??? Do you notice any difference in the noise when you switch your F45 settings from Tour to Sport to Perf? Does it only happen when accelerating, or do you notice it when cornering, too?

thanks for answer Fhturner
no one difference in the noise when I switch my F45 settings from Tour to Sport to Perf. Noise come when I accelerate that is to advance or to move back never when I'm braking.no noise on a bad road only I have the impression that the tire rebounded and that unbalance the rear wheel-axle unit .
Should I have message if f45 does'nt work good ??
it's difficult for me to explain what is happens .I do not have enough vocabulary.
thanks again for help

Is this under hard acceleration or gradual acceleration? On my previous '98 coupe, when its rear shocks were worn out, trying to burn a little rubber resulted in pretty bad wheel hop, with small "chirps" when the wheels were actually contacting the pavement. I didn't really notice any pronounced suspension noise when this happened-- only that the rear wheels were not in full contact with the pavement.

One other thing that comes to mind: When I had the shocks replaced on my '98, the mechanic didn't get the upper part of the left-rear shock tightened all the way, and it made a very noticeable "ticking" sound anytime I went over a bump. Doesn't sound quite the same as your issue, but it's something you might check.

Well, I'm no mechanical expert on these cars (or any cars, for that matter). I'm just trying to help you narrow down where the problem might be and under what circumstances it occurs. From this point, I would try to find a dealer (or non-dealer mechanic) with a good reputation for working on Corvettes. Get them to drive/ride in it with you so you can point out the noise, then have them lift it up and inspect it. I'm not at home right now, but when I get home, I'll also look and see if the service manuals mention anything like this...

Good luck!
Fred
