Rear Tie Rod Question

I just got the service manuals for my 88. I looked at the illustration for lubrication and it shows that the rear tie rods should be greased. Looked at them last night and mine have no zerk fittings. In the detailed rear suspension portion of the manual I can't determine if there are fittings there or not. Can someone verify if there should be grease fittings or not? I'm assuming everything is all original on the car since it only has 36XXX miles.

If there aren't zerks they are sealed. Some of the info in the manual isn't kept up to date.
My 87 has zerks. The tierod ends I put on the front end didn't have them and they were GM replacements.

Thanks for the info. It just seemed funny that the fronts have fittings and the rear didn't even though the manual shows both with fittings. I'll leave well enough alone.

Thought I'd bring this to your attention seeing's your talking about the rear tie rod. This is a recall bullentin from the NHTSA concerning years of 87-89 on the rod assembly. It can fracture without warning and total loss of control will occur. Just thought enquiring minds ought to know.

Thanks for the info. I'll bet my originals were replaced with the sealed units with this recall. I has previously checked with Chevrolet Customer Service and found out all the recalls had been performed on my car except the seat belts. Never thought to check recalls. That's one of the great things about this website. Somebody is always there to help me.
