I have a 97 Auto.. I already have the QTP Cutout so Mufflers are bypassed. Im thinking of removeing the Cats and adding the O2 simulaters. Has anyone done this. Also I know I will gain power on the top end but will I loose alot of torque off the line? Whats a realistic hp increase est for this. Like 5 hp? on a stock car

Hi there,
This is something I do NOT ever recommend for a street driven vehicle, in any way.
People want to say that the rear o2 sensors do nothing more than check on the converter function. This is false. Your rear o2 sensors comprise about 25% of total fuel delivery formulas within the PCM.
When you install sims, you fix the correction factor, which is never at a fixed voltage. It will always fluctuate some. So, then, you fuel delivery is NEVER optimum after this.

Thanks for all your help c4c5, Does this mean that my gas milage will suck or that the car will not go any faster? Im not too concerned about gas since im not to far from work.

Jorge,

I'm not sure that you would notice a SOTP difference in power (torque) by just removing your cats.

I agree with C4C5, but have you thought about hi-Flo cats?

Random technology makes some good ones that will enhance your performance and sound without throwing error codes.

I have the FLP system with the Hi-flo cats X-pipe and Indies.

I love the sound and the added power!

c4c5specialist , thanks for your help once again. Does the C5 have precats? the ones I was planning on removing and adding the simulators to was the front ones. I really havent checked to see if there are rear cats on this car.

There are alot of mods that can legally be done to the car to give PROVEN hp increases, I dont want to preach but keep it legal there is tons of things to do including the high flow cats
