Is there any reason why I've never heard of replicas of the original alloys, just "stretched" a bit for larger (modern) tire diameters? It seems like there would be a market for such an item, with all the people who want to stay somewhat stock in appearance, but would like to be able to fit 16" or 17" tires...

There are plenty of different wheels, but I like the look of the originals. I just wish they were a slightly larger diameter.

I often wonder about that also. It would be nice to have original looking rims in 17" size to fit those low profile BFG's.

Super Chevy magazine has an advertisement for 16 - 17" Ralley wheels.

Nevertheless, I have often wondered the same as you people about larger aluminum wheels, and I think that the 1981 Wheel with a larger diameter would look cool...:_rock

I seem to remember having this discussion a few years ago. At the time, I found a company willing to make a mold in any size you could want based on the original design of the aluminum wheel. I thought that company was Colorado Custom, but I don't seem to find any info on their website. The price for a set of 18's, I recall would have been around $5000, so there are definitely cheaper options. I will do some digging to see if I can find the old info.

A company called Wheel Vintiques makes billet Rally wheels in a 16 x 8" size.

I know the Rally wheels come in all sorts of sizes, but I think people hear are looking for the aluminum wheels on the late-model C3's only in larger sizes. :beer

Yeah, the aluminum wheels. I'd like to keep the original style, but be able to use more modern tires, and have somewhat reduced sidewall height.
