Question: Resister between cig liter and gear shift

I only have the side open enough to look in . If this is a alarm device were would the switch be located to turn it on or off?
do you have you console apart or together???
are the side of the console open,I'm trying to figure out what you are asking about but I cant
think of what it might be except for,perhaps the alarm/it won't start relay/solenoid.
but I'm not sure they had them in the '80 corvette.

You won't have the anti start function. that didn't start till '81
I'm not sure but it may be activated by locking the driver side power door lock.It should activate the horn.

Without a picture, we do not have a clue what you're talking about. In your original post, it was a resistor; now it's a solenoid. Post a pic and we could see what you see.

Do you have the assembly instruction manual (AIM)? The AIM shows the installation of the items under the console trim plate.
