I seen on youtube people revving their engines in neutral. I alway heard that revving your engine like this would damage your engine. Is this true, or just a old wives tale?.

Revving a "warmed up engine" within reason is okay, upper limit revving bad, ...

...what's "within reason" and where does "upper limit" start is the question. :w

:lou

Generally, it won't hurt your engine to rev it in neutral once in a while, but don't run the engine past it's "rev limit" or "redline".

Hence the words redline, and rev limit.

reving in neutral.....

And the bigger question is, why do you want to rev your engine to "upper limits" in neutral anyway?:eyerole

Some folks like the sound of the exhaust at 6000 RPM and that's hard to hear when you're moving! ;LOL
