1988 convertible - black rose
Hello All,

I'm new to this forum as of today, but have heard it's a great souce of info, so here I am.

Does anyone know of a manufacturer that produces a "bolt in" roll bar for '88 convertibles ? I don't want to get into modifying the rear deck, and would like the top to operate up & down with the bar in place. It should also meet NCCC or SCCA requirements.

Thanks for your time, and your response !!!

Geno

Welcome to the :CAC

I am not 100% about where to get a roll bar for your car - I will look and see - My concern is you are looking for more than just looks - it has to be "legal" for the racing groups...

Again, Welcome - Will post if I see anything :beer

Geno,

Give me a call toward the end of next week. We are prototyping a 96 model in the shop right now. There will need to be some slight adjustments made for your earlier model, but we should be able to help you out.

Call Dave at R-D. I have his bar in my coupe. It looks great, good workmanship!! He is a great guy to do business with also.

Rollbar for 88 Convertible

Thank you all for your reply. Being in NCCC, I know there is a "legal" bar requirement, and also with SCCA. I've been doing auto-x for 3 years now, but plan on doing hi speeds this coming season, and a roll bar is a requirement. Thanks 89x2 for mentioning it.....had I not known, it would have made me check around to see what the scoop was !! Because he comes recommended (thanks Gary), I'll give Dave Cooper a call, and go from there. If we get this done, I'll crank out some pics. Thank you all for your replies. Everyone have a great Christmas, and a safe, and prosperous New Year !!! ;)

just wondering, but are there any roll bars or cages that allow the targa top to be stored in the back. (non convertable)

I mean, in all the pictures ive seen there is ussually sometihng that looks like it would interfere with the targa.

There is one brand that allows for top storage in the rear, I can't remember the mfg. right now. But, most of those don't pass the tech. inspection (from what I understand). The way the bars have to be bent to allow the top to me compromises the strength of the bar. And, most I've seen that allow the roof storage, just look plain silly.
