Anyone ever break one of these torx roof tools. I just broke mine this morning what a bummer the SUN it out and going to be like summer and i can't get my roof off thank god i was able to tighten the other three backup with the tool otherwise i would be without the Vette. Anyone know a quik place to pickup a socket maybe or do i have to go through the dealer for this tool???

All you need is a torx wrech (T 30) i use a screwdriver type T30 on my is the quickest way. If not use a T 30 bit driver and a rachet it needs to be the long type to reach inside windshield header. Hope this helps.

Broke the tool? I broke one of the bolts a few years ago. Snapped the head of one of the rear bolts off as I was backing out of my driveway at an angle. Heard a pop and the roof rattled.

I was surprised that it could seemingly break so easily. I hope that never happens to you!:L

I broke the threads on my top, I am thinking I am going to get a new top as my old top is done (plastic has cracks)

I bought a ratchet with the torx head attachment (from Home Depot) for my top when I first bought the '95. The dang thing broke within a month or two. I ended up getting the one out of MidAmerica or Ecklers and it's still kicking two years later.

Try this link. My hardware is stripped on my glass top and my husband cracked it when he lifted it up while stored in the hatch! I am going to replace mine now that the weather is warmer.

Dontcha just love saving money on Chinese tools? NOT!

I remember a recall that changed the interior brackets that hold the back edge, because of this problem. The change was to plastic covers with wider openings, I believe.
