When I looked through the model center for 1987 and seen Z52 it says (coupe). Now I am guessing that is saying coupe only, but my 87 vert has this RPO code, and everything included in it. The radiator booster fan, the engine oil cooler. the better turning ratio...etc. Am I reading it wrong?

The Z52 was available for coupe or convertible, manual or automatic. The Z51 was coupe and manual only. The Z52 included most of the goodies from the Z51 as you mentioned like the booster fan, oil cooler, turning ratio, Bilstein shocks, bigger radiator, etc. but had the softer suspension of the base models. Sounds like you have a well optioned Corvette.

Unfortunately, the Z52 package didn't get the real quick steering and the PS fluid cooler. The spring rates were different between the coupe and vert Z52 as was the front sway bar rate. http://corvetteactioncenter.com/tech/c4/susp_chart.html

I think that both the Z51 and Z52 packages got the Enkei wheels that were supposed to be lighter that the Western wheel. The Enkei wheels are also supposed to allow you to run the 12" front brakes from the 88 and later cars with some minor trimming of the fins on the top of the clipers.

Thanks, that is what I kind of figured but it had coupe in parenthesis next to it. Thanks I think my vette has every option except the performance axle ratio :mad , and the luggage rack, which is fine by me.

I've got the Z52 on my 'Vette as well.

Hib Halverson actually had a chart that I looked at before where he listed the bushing, sway bar, etc... sizes for the different C4 suspension packages.

It's the thread that Cruiser listed above. I used that chart when one of my rear bushings on the sway bar was blown out. It's a cool chart!

Radios don't have anything to do with either the Z51 or the Z52 option packages; those options cover performance-related items only. ;)

Ummm, pardon but, I think it said raTio; the quicker steering.

I can get reading glasses in Japan for a buck, pal.;)

My Z-52 has the RPO B1X also with B2B.....Whats a CF7 and a D9B?

I have over 40 RPO codes on my 87 ? Is that normal?:W

Z52 was a two-year option aimed at addressing owner and media complaints that the C4 Z51 ride was harsh but doing it in a way that still gave customers a slight handling improvement over base.

Z52 included the HD radiator, cooling boost fan, engine oil cooler, the steering cooler, the quick steering rack and (on coupes) the structural enhancements introduced the year before on convertibles. The items which actually had a tangible impact on handling were (in order of importance) the Bilstein shocks, the 9.5x16s in front and (on most, but not all cars, to better match the wider wheels with the base springs) the 30mm ft. stabilizer bar.

Z52 was available on coupes and convertibles so, if the CAC's model-year center says "coupes only", unfortunately....it's incorrect.

Gee...only 36 to go? :)

CF7- Roof, removeable, non-transparent
D9B- Sensor, vehicle speed (25007308)

:confused My '87 Z52 coupe does not have the PS cooler. The steering feels quick, but I don't believe it's the 2 1/4 turns lock-to lock of the Z51 rack.

Guess I'll finally have to count the turns to see what it really is!! :D

From my 87 build sheet:
B1X = Steering Gear Ratio
B2B = Sport Handling Component

According to the CAC RPO list, the B1X is "Optional steering gear ratio" and B2B is "Component of Z52 Sport Handling package" but doesn't specifiy what picec it is.
