Saw the ZR1 today...

It was a lot more impressive than I though it would be. The carbon fiber halo/roof really makes the styling "pop." It looked pretty sinister sitting in the GM display at Barrett-Jackson. I think they auction it on Sat. or Sun. Wonder what the first "production" unit will bring? Any guesses?

If MSRP is about $100,000 then most will sell for $150,000 or so.

Remember the Ford GT? MSRP $150,000, couldn't be touched for under $225,000. I think the ZR1 will fetch the $150,000 price as well.

I don't know. It seems like "special interest" car values are softening up. It isn't like it was last year (or the year before when they REALLY flew!)

2009 Corvette ZR1 @ Barret-Jackson

I think the ZR1 will go for $300-$350K. Remember, the right to order the first 2007 Shelby GT500 went for $500Kotfl at Barrett-Jackson 2007.

If I recall correctly, the 1st Mustang Cobra 500 or what ever sold last year for something like $450k or more. Millionaires go nuts on those last two days trying to one up each other. I'm betting the first ZR1 goes for something closer to $1 million depending on how it is presented and who signs it, etc. Fun to watch. The deals are some of the older street rods.

You are probably right. If the Shelby went for $450-$500K, there's no way the ZR1 will go for anything less than $750K-$1 Million. We won't have to wait too long to find out.

Ron Pratt, a Barertte Jackson regular and Billionaire, has purchased the last few special interest charity vehicles. All were around the 1/2 million mark. He's also the gentleman who bought Shelby's super snake for 5 million last year and the future-liner concept bus for 4 million. Ron has a very extensive (read amazing) private collection and my guess is he'll buy the 1st ZR1 if history holds true. $500,000 minimum my guess is $650,000.

Pratt lives 2 blocks from my place - in a different world. His house is on the market for just under $9m. Maybe he's saving up for the ZR1. Mine's on the market too, but I don't think I have to worry about competition from the Pratt's.

Zero collectible cars around - at least that I can see. I guess he made his money in construction supplies, like beams and trusses. I understand he has a car large storage facility in Chandler AZ - the city next door. A number of neighbors have been to his place for church functions and the like - I've never been invited.:L:L:L Maybe he wants to swap houses. Nevermind, I couldn't pay the taxes and landscape crews.

Saw the ZR1 at the Chicago Auto Show yesterday. You can tell it's a ZR1 from a long way. The brake discs take up the whole wheel.

It is one sinister lookin' Vette!

How is the Auto Show this year? When I lived in Chi, I never missed the big show, from age 5 until I left. It's an under rated event.

The show was awesome! It took up both the North & South buildings. When the West building is finished, I believe it will be in all 3.

The new Hyundai Genesis is the real deal. 375 HP out of a small V-8. They had a model of the engine.

GM had 3 Vettes that were open. A ZO6, coupe & convertible. Folks were getting into them all day!

Dodge had 2 Vipers that were locked. Nice goin' Dodge! otfl
