Can anyone describe the procedure for removing the Service LTPWS light bulb? I want to install AFS ZR-1 wheels with non-run flat tires and I'd rather not see that warning light all the time.

Thanks, JCS44

You'll have to take the light bulb out by taking the dash panel off. There are just screws holding the dash panel on.

Make sure they don't damage those sensors when they take them off. Those sensors are extremely expensive and you should keep them around just in case (you never know).

Thanks for the info. I'm going to leave the sensors in the sawblades along with the EMTs. I'll just put different tire on the other wheels.

I would not! leave them in if one of them breaks the car will jump all over the place and the lousy tire guy's break them on dismount or when mouting, don't take the chance.

If you are lucky list is $600.00 A PIECE.
I got some for $380.00 but they are color coated and if the tire guy's don't get them on the right wheels going the right direction owner be ware.

Yeah, I know its always the lousy tire guy's fault or lousy mechanic, you get the idea. It couldn't be the crappy design having anything to do with it. Or the vehicle owner's unwillingness to pay what the job is really worth.

Yes, I work in the auto repair industry, so it gets a little old listening to some people around here whining about dealers, tire stores, mechanics, etc...

Yet when you break it, you want someone to bail your butt out for next to nothing. I have found the biggest whiners tend to be the cheap skates that no one working at the dealer/shop/store wants to deal with because this person wants to beat you for every last nickel. Keep this trend up and everyone will be going to Wal-mart for service work and Costco for tires...:mad :confused

Sorry but it is the dealers fault not the customer.

The service advisor is at fault and the mechanic!! At all times and when the experts can't fix it why not try for cheaper, by the time the cheap guy is done you have not payed as much as you would have if you went to the dealer, even if they had done it wrong the first time .
Sure the GM plant made the mistake by putting a large hose clamp around the wheel which in later years they just attached the counter to the valve stem.
Now valve stems cost around $200.00
But the tire guy's make it a point to break them even when mounting and dismounting tires, just because they can.
You don't want to know what I know.
1. Used car mechanic dealer.
2. 15A tech
3.Break and frontend tech.
4.Tune up tech.
5.Service advisor.
6.Shop forman.
7.Ass service Mgr.
Don't tell me about cheap I spend the money and still get ripped off at the dealer but I am your wors't night mare.
I can and will get you fired every time ,from your job because I have been there in all these posessions and more.
Knowledge is a good thing .
I get tired of hearing I haven't got the time to the job right the first time,
but when it comes back I have the time to fix it.
That is why they call it a come back!!!:_rock
What people say is the truth and it is up to the dealer to make things right.
Some people are cheap and it is up to the dealer service advisor to instill confidence in the dealers ability to repair the vhl right the first time for a higher price, and not blow the customer off because they are cheap. The customer just want's it right the first time.If dealers would do that ,there would not be a cheap customer just a happy one.The dealer mechanics are worth their weight in gold but once again, I have not found that to be true of today's mechanics..:bar

Simmer down guys. We all know those sensors are a pain and expensive. I plan on not touching them. The EMT tires will stay on the sawblades with the sensors. If I do anything at all, I will simply put different tires on the aftermarket wheels and pull Service LTWPS bulb.

PS-I talked to half a dozen tire places and the Chev dealer. They either charge extra for EMTs and sensors or they refuse to touch 'em. I don't blame them at all.

Remove the Fuse!

That's right, the fuse but it also stops the cruise control, both use the same fuse.

Believe me it's a lot easier then playing with the dashboard.
