Is there a way on 1996s to call up the codes without the computer? Its running just fine.

OOOh you are sooo right. after swearing up and down because the jumper I made was not working I finally read the fine print to say it wont work on OBD2 systems :mad I did disconnect the battery and the code/light went away. I drove the car about 25 miles and so far so good. If it comes back I'll run it to the dealer I guess.

I use one of the Actron/Kal Equp OBDII scanners. It is a great tool, and will read virtually any car made from 1996 to present. It has already saved me and my family hundreds of dollars that would otherwise been spent at the dealer just to find out silly things like:

gas cap loose
air injection pump failure
O2 sensor failure

You can see more at

www.actron.com

The OBDII will not always drop the light by just disconnecting the battery. It keeps memory stored, and will turn the light off on its own if it does not see the fault condition after a preset number of start cycles.

It was strange I had the car out the night before and no light. As soon as I started it the next morning the light was there. Im hoping all it needed was to reboot the computer.
