could some tell me how to take off the shifter and button on a 92 auto. Thanks Frank:

Use 2 little flat screwdrivers and pry up the plastic button. You'll find a circlip ring holding the knob down inside. Pliers for that removal are available, or work it off with needle nose and screwdriver. Spray a little WD 40 down in there to loosen the knob. You may need a wrench under it and tap with a hammer. It will pop right up and out.
