I replaced the stock candles with Sylvania Silverstars. They are way heavier than the stock (plastic) sealed beams. Anyone have these installed & have any problems?

HID guys, not worth the expense/work so don't go there. This Vette is only occasional short night driven. Thanks.

Really? I've always heard the Silverstars are THEE replacements for the stock ones, which I must agree, are rather pathetic. I haven't heard the weight being an issue before.

What do you mean when you say, "not worth the expense/work"? What wasn't worth the expense/work, the Silverstars or the HID's?

I just put them in 4 or 5 days ago and your right, they are cosiderably heavyer (spelling doesn't count) than the originals. They also provide a huge improvment in light at night. My guess is they stress the motors more than factory ones but I feel the light output is worth it. I do a lot of night driving though. Enjoy the night :cool .....

Any truth to the threads I've read about these heating up the wires more than normal lights?

Rain (tryin to reason, with hurricane season)

ooooppps, not sure what I did there but I'll try again :confused,

I had not heard about that before your post Rain, nothing I read anywhere mentioned anything other than positive reviews. Any idea how to check?......

Finz up :pat (I think I'll have a Bloody Mary and stumble over to :bar )

I was referring to the HID's being expensive. The real thing is $400 - 500 or more & it's a custom install - not plug in.

The Silverstar's are $50/pair & they rock - had em out tonight - really light up the road.

I have 50 watt halogen fog light upgrades & now they look yellow next to the Silverstars.

The SS are 55/65 watts (lo/hi). Should not be a prob on the wiring. I did use dielectric on the connectors.
