I tried to talk Z28Canuck into lying on the roof with a jar of high-test and a hose, but he wouldn't go for it. :eyerole

The best way to handle this problem is to do what I do......Just Throw money at it..........Repalce the engine harness.......and the alternator. This way your bound to fix the problem.....

Now that the appraisal (and a few other things that remain to be revealed ) are complete, I'll spend some time changing the wiring this weekend and report back.

We'll be open for business again when I have something "relevant" to report.

Tada! The brain-trust comes through again.

First I jumped the fan connections over from the battery to the horn relay. I took a short drive to get the fans to come on and, tada, ammeter problem solved.

Next, I rewired to eliminate the jumper and went for a longer test drive. Problem still solved. Who-da thunk. :gap

I'll feel much better about tackling that 1,600-mile round trip in less than 3 weeks.
