I will let you know about the insatllation. I think the only true cold air system would have to get the air from outside the engine compartment. The SLP,K&N ect get the air from inside the compartment, but for me I am not ready to start cutting holes on my 09.I have not used it but I am considering it. I have read that it's easy to install. I am wondering if it's truely cold-air myself. I have also read the Varram is actually cold-air but not so easy to install as the Blackwing....I suppose they all have good/bad points....let me know how yours is....I have not made up my mind yet....which one it will be

The Calloway Honker is a true cold air induction, but you mentioned not wanting to cut any holes yet so you probably would not want it. They are a little pricey $400-500. You can get a pretty good deal from Corvettes of Houston. Thats where I got mine. I installed my own but it was a bear getting the plastic radiator schroud out. It comes with complete and detailed instructions. So far never had any problems.
Something I am not sure of now is hydrolock with true cold-air systems.....could that be a problem with Calloway Honker???
I will keep you posted, I am still waiting for it! Seems like SLP made some modification to it and are waiting for the new parts. They told me that it should ship the last week of the monthI have not used it but I am considering it. I have read that it's easy to install. I am wondering if it's truely cold-air myself. I have the blackwing on my '06. I bought it more for looks than for performance. And, yes, it is not a true cold-air system as it gets its air from inside the engine compartment.
But don't worry, it is an easy installation. The instructions say to attach the metal bar to the front crossmember first. However, I found it easier to attach it to the filter first then attach the assembly to the front crossmember.
Don't worry, you will see what I am talking about when you begin installing it. Just take your time and it will go smoothly.
I installed the BlackWing system tonight, not a bad project. I do have a question for you. Did you notice a change in your idle speed.Mine is now bouncing adound a little. More then it did with the stock system
I would suggest doing the idle relearn for the LS1 that you have found. It probably won't hurt anything though I would't necessarily unhook anything first.
