Here are some stupid ??????? for a 1st time vette owner.

1. What should be the operating temp of both the oil and water for the LT4?

2. Where is the jack for the spare tire?

When I think of some more I will be asking

Welcome to CAC. I'm also somewhat new here, and have learned a lot. It seems the LT4's tend to run hot. My coolant is usually 180 to 200 under normal driving and outside temp is 60 to 70. Heavy stop and go traffic will drive it up to 230. Someone posted a way to get your aux fan to turn on sooner, but I can't find it ( any help out there? ) This next spring, I may put on a cooler thermostat ( 160 ) hope this helps.

the jack is in the box behind your passenger bucket.......
oil and water are relative to the thermo you have.........as an average .........about 210 ...........

Thanks. I was only wondering because my oil temp seems to run about 180-195 and coolant 203-210 and if I'm sitting at a light it raises to about 213 or so. I just want to make sure that was within acceptable range.

If you don't turn the fans on sooner... it will only help you while moving.. stop and go traffic and your temps will still run hot. I've got a 160 T-stat and fans programmed to come on at 181-187... car runs between 176 and 190 now in central florida.

Those arent stupid questions! here are some stupid questions:

1. how do you open the door?
2. When a van full of people pull up and the guy working at Wendys cuts you off and asks "is that all?" when all you said is "I'd like a small fry."
3. when someone is wearing their glasses and asks you "where are my glasses?

These are all stupid questions people have asked me. Im sure there are more, but this is all i can think of.

Nope not stupid questions.... funny in a silly way though sometimes when you think about it. I know I had mine for a couple weeks, I just didn't have the time to thoroughly read the manuals.... heck I didn't know it had a spare tire much less that carrier underneath is where they hide the jack. And who would have thought that the compartment behind the passenger seat is for stowing the jack when you carrying the real tire in the carrier... duh I felt stupid too. But then I learned so much about the features and such by just getting some time to read it. Oh yes then I picked up the shop manuals, its really quite interesting sometimes to gain some understanding of the systems onboard. Of course then I had to investigate it, dropped the tire down checked the pressure ha ha ha guess what 0 psi, so now I remember to check it from time to time, spare doesn't help if it has no air in it. Plus the dry run gives you an idea of how dirty your going to get on the side of the road, yikes.

On the temps, my 93 LT1 runs in the mid 190's on both, hot summer days I've seen it get to 206/212 but never hotter. The digital seems more acurate than the analog guages. Although its a bit cooler now in cent. fla, after the water pump change, H2O has been right at 194.

Welcome to the forum!

Lani the LT1 will differ slightly from the LT4......if anything it might actually be a tad cooler.........and .....you have a spare w/carrier?? Lucky.....:w :w

You've given me the courage to ask a stupid question of my own. I've never owned a car before with flip up headlights. On all the other cars, if I wanted to flash my lights during the daytime (when they're not on) I just flicked the lever on the left of the steering column.
But this doesn't seem to do it in the vette.
What do you do if you want to warn somebody there's a state patrol just over the hill they're coming up on ?

I am not fooling, this is a serious question.

Flash your fog lights !

I don't have fog lights! I think they have them on the 2003's maybe. I just have those daytime running lights, I guess I could flash them but they wouldn't be very visible I don't think.
