I decided to use heat shields on my engine in my truck with '81 exhaust manifolds on it since the tubing is so close to the plug boots. Then I had to replace a plug wire because of a burnt boot on the '81. That's when I noticed that there was no shield on the left front. The repro kits show a l/f shield with a hole in it to access the temp sender up to '79. Here's a pic of the '79 part.
Does anyone have a heat shield on their '81 that they can say was there from the factory? If the '79 part for the cast manifold fits on the truck with the '81 tubing manifolds OK I may add one to the '81. They sell the '79 l/f shield seperately at some of the parts houses.
