spark plugs

Any time you replace worn plugs with any NEW plugs you may notice some subtle improvements. But don't expect plugs to make any meaningful difference in performance, mileage etc.

Any double platinums should net you excellent spark plug life and solid performance.

ACDs have a solid following as you'd expect. On my older (pre emissions) Chevy V8 I use them. On my LT1 with Opti I'm considering other options as I've heard about the platinum electrode hats coming lose on the OE plugs.

The Bosch +4s are very popular among C4 owners judging from the various online threads on this subject. They are also 'pushed' by the parts stores and may explain some of their popularity. I've used them in our German cars as of the last change and can't complain. I've never used them in a SBC V8 however. While they aren't double platinums the 3 extra ground electrodes makes up for that presumably netting you similar long life I would think.

QUESTION: Has anybody tried the Autolite XPs (Extreme Performance)???

On paper they look impressive sporting an iridium center electrode, platinum ground electrode, a wider gap and a pretty reasonable price to boot compared to comparable iridiums. My online searches have not yielded much in the way of objective analysis of this specific plug model however. (in part this may be due to the BRAND having a ho-hum/average reputation not generally associated with 'performance' plugs or 'GM' engines)

Ok, an opinion? Well definitely Cold beer is Better than Hot beer. I've drank a rivers worth on five different continents, but I'm a friend of bill's now. And I've tried a few different makes of spark plugs in my 84 and NONE of any of them were worth the trouble of changing them. Stick with a AC plug that's intended for your engine, I went with AC delco rapid-fire plugs and they work great !
