Picked up our first Corvette today. 2000 Convertible. Drove it home from Ohio (213 miles). What a blast. Nothing like my 72 442. I'm a 60's -70's muscle car guy but this puts them all to shame. I can see why all Corvette owners I have met are so geeked about thier cars. Like having your own personnal amusement park ride. Very impressed. Wife loves it too.
2000 Convertible, 1200 miles. Looks like it has never been driven in the rain. Not a mark on it. Polo Green, Oak interior & top.
Has the magnesium wheels (with the goldish tint), active handling, loaded, (the HUD is very kool). Looking forward to driving it around this summer.

Congratulations.

Like you, I was a muscle car guy until I bought my first Vette. It's didn't take me long to realize I had made a mistake. The mistake - not buying a Vette sooner!

Love that Vette!!!!!

Thanks. The C-5 is a keeper. (But I still like the sound of the 442's Big Block (455) V-8). The Vette is still going to be more fun..........

Welcome to :CAC

I am sure your car will provide you many hours of joy in the future... I've had mine now for about 6 months and I still look forward to driving to work every morning. Never thought I would say that !

:Steer :v

Hey Greg, welcome to the CAC :w
Congratulations on your car. How about posting a pic?
I love that amusement park ride analogy. That describes it exactly!

Greg

Welcome to CAC.:w I too love the mussel cars. But my dream was to always own a vette. To me a vette is the utmost mussel car. They always had speed and beauty. I know your vette won't disappoint you they just better and better. Have fun and don't forget to wave.:w

"So geeked"...I like that!

That would definitely describe me, I drive everyone around me crazy! :L :L

Congratulations on your new car!

Lauren

Congrats on your purchase! Just don't drive a Z06 (especially if you like muscle cars!!). 'Cause you'll want one. :s

Congrats Greg. And I see you decided to drive the car back instead of trailer. These cars are a blast and I'm sure there will be miles of smiles with your car. Curious, did you get an auto or stick?

Leon

Hey Greg, I thought you were going to trailor that C5 home. :)

Really glad you decided to drive it instead. (assuming of course that this new thread is a continuation to the tie down thread)

Anyway, congratulations for sure! That Polo Green you are referring to could well be Dark Bowling Green Metallic, which was a new color for 2000 and is the color that mine is. There were 1663 built. (Polo Green is not listed in the specs as an available color that year)

Here is a link that I've found helpful.

https://www.mygmlink.com/main/US/en/chevrolet/home

Also, I was able to pull down specifications, options and production information for the 2000 from http://www.media.gm.com/division/chevrolet/ but for the life of me cannot figure out how I did it. :(

I saved it as a Word document, so if you would like a copy send an email to me at tla@tampabay.rr.com and I¡¦ll send it to you.

Again, congratulations!

Tom

It's an automatic, have bum left knee, for me manuals are thing of the past.........my 442 has a Hurst Dual Gate........the best of both worlds..............

1ST VETTE

Congratulations on your new Corvette. I hate to be the one who tells you this, but you have now caught an incurable illness. First it is the aftermarket catalogs, then the numerous Corvette history books, then the Corvette disease can go in any number of directions. Your condition is not fatal, but it is incurable!
Smile! There are worse social diseases to have!

Yeah I know, I had one of those ailments with my 442 but it ran it's course..........

Hi Greg,
Congratulations on your new Vette!!!! When I first got my Vette I used any excuse to take it out. I am having a great time driving it and I am sure you will too.
Tony

Oh, a good reason, lets see........we need milk.......see ya......
varroooom.............thanks

All I know, and I'm sure you agree, is that every morning when I walk out into the garage, I automatically get this smile on my face. Welcome to the world of smiles.

:) :) :) :)

No, keeping the 442.....nothing like the feeling of a big block.......
The 442's for going staight real fast
