my 93 with over 100k starts rite up.then sometimes it needs to crank 5-10 seconds to start.no gas smell, new filters, plugs, wires. no codes.had the car 1yr always done this. please give a reason other than optispark. :confused
oh yea-the times that it starts hard it goes to hi-idle for awhile after it starts.

When it takes 5-10 seconds to crank over, is that when it has usually sat for a while or when it is cold?

I drive high milage cars. I have noticed that the feul pumps get weak. I found if you turn the key on for about 3 to 5 seconds before you crank that the engine start quicker . The way I fell into this is that I installed a remote start on my 89 Riviera, seemed to start better with the remote. Turns out the start unit takes a few seconds after turning on ignition before it cranks.
Not sure if this is your problem but worth checking out. If the car had just been running in the last hr it didn't seem to need the wait.

it seems to be more prevelant when it has set awhile.but not effected by it being 'cold' outside as it ocurs all year long.

When I said cold I meant is the car cold as in like sitting over night and starting it up in the morning. My car, and my brothers car both run a little rough on the start up if the car has been sitting over night.
