I have a question.
My power steering needs a rebuild. All Leaky. Winter project. So I took it all off for the summer. I wanted to try no p.s. on the 'fast steer' position anyway. Pretty hard on the column bearings. Does the pump put any pressure to the ball stud in the control valve? Had it in the alignment shop yesterday. The mechanic said the ball stud to pittman arm seems loose it the control valve now. He thought it might need some pump press.
In my youth I remember a friend removed the ps. on a '64. when we put a bb in it. We drove the car for years like that.
Thanks, Frank.

He's right - without pump pressure, you'll note some slop in the ball stud.
