I eliminated the resonator as well. I wanted to be able to service the entire exhaust system myself, so I took a different approach. I purchased a cat-back exhaust from Super Natural Performance w/out mufflers. This allowed me to unbolt the entire cat-back factory exhaust. The new system came in three sections... from the cats there is a small section (with built-in "X") that mates to two straight pipes that replace the resonator. Two aft pipes, that are curved, come out of the straight pipes to mate up with your mufflers. I cut the OE mufflers off of the exhaust assembly that was removed. I left enough "material" on the OE mufflers, so I could expand (took it to a muffler shop) the end of the muffler to fit over the after-market exhaust and use a clamp to secure it.1994 Convertible, I'm thinking of replacing the resonator with a x-pipe, while keeping the rest of the exhaust stock. The reason for doing this is a rattle from inside the resonator. I have searched the forums for information what kind of sound this will produce, without success. The stock system is to quite, I don't mind a louder system, but would hate to add dronehnoes to the car.

Essentially, my exhaust is in four sections, but I can service it myself, if need be. There are no welds, only clamps, and I have yet to have any leaks. The sound is awesome, no drone at all. It still has the same OE tone, only slightly louder. While cruising, you can here a slight burble, but at WOT, it sounds louder (but not obnoxious) and respectable. I prefer it over the Corsa exhaust I had (that is another story in itself).
