hello..what is a supercharger..and do they work well for an 86 coupe..also
what type of headers do u guys recomend for my vette..auto tran..

The most popular C4 headers seem to be the TPIS headers. They are very nice units and they're probably what I'll go with when I decide to splurge the $750 for them. You can find them at:

www.tpis.com

Sorry but I can't answer your SC question.

A supercharger is driven by the belt, and uses impellors to force air into the engine. Which creates way more hp. I have not heard of many accounts of superchargers on C4's, but procharger makes a nice setup that from what I can tell is very reliable. Edmond is right, for our C4's the TPIS longtubes are probably the best.

Most poular, best? Maybe, but for around $500 you can get Hookers out of Sumit or Jegs. They fit well, install easily, look and perform good, but they do not come with a Y pipe. I think TPIS does. Of course if you're going for top performance you won't need the Y anyway ;):L

I thought I saw on an earlier post that you recently acquired your Corvette. I think I know what you are going through mentally. What can I do to make it faster, better looking, better handling, supercharger, bigger throttle body, revamped ECU, chips, headers etc, etc. Just a unsolicited suggestion; I would get your car in excellent mechanical condition first. Change all fluids as necessary, tune up, new wires and so on.
Then get to know what your car is capable of doing as it sits. Corvettes are VERY capable cars from the factory. One mod by itself may actually do more harm than good. Good mods come in groups, i.e. cam, roller rockers, throttle body, long tube headers and so on. Take a few weeks to read all the posts on this boards and then do a budget to see what will give you the "most bang for the buck"
17" wheels (ebay) and performance tires will improve your handling, as will new shocks, bushings etc. Plus they will look great on your car.
I'm not trying to preach, or tell you some you already know. But I've been there, done that.

Good luck and Keep the Wave
