Hey all at the CACC...

Heres a link to the webpage describing the details of how the Richmond install went down...
The page has lots of pics on it , give it a minute or two for the pics to all come up if you have a slow connection.

Click on the pics to see it in larger detail.

So, how is it...whats your rpm's now? Nice Job!;)

Tom,

What is your rpm in top gear ?? How much of a difference did it make to your mpg ? Does it shift as nice as the M21 ? How much torque/hp is the RIchmond good for ?

Thanks, Dave

In a nutshell My mileage near doubled. being good on the interstate, the mileage went from 12-14 to 24-25mpg. In the .62 gear the Rpm's are still below 2000 @ 80mph.
All vibrations in the powertrain have become minimal, even at 120, I havent had it faster than that.
At 110, the car feels smooth and cruisable ..it feels like it did at about 60-70 with the muncie, Possibly some of this is because the muncie was 30+yrs old and probably had never been rebuilt!
Hahaa, Good question Swavedave, No it doesnt shift like the Muncie. In comparison the muncie was like a delicate toy. With the Richmond, You gotta grab that shifter and do a little forearm muscle pull and push.
Launching and 1st-4th sounds like a B52 taking off from inside the cab anyway. Big old indestructable square cut gears are responsible for that.
The richmond handles Torque to 450ft lbs at the rear wheels...which is "much" more than the T-56. Its a considerable more heavy duty trans than the T-56 OD or Tremec OD aftermarket!

Sounds GREAT!!! Did you find a 6 spd console plate? I would want to see the face of people that look inside and see a 6 spd plate...:Roll

That is soooooooo coool!

That is the EXACT same unit I hope to be putting in Killer in the future. Glad you worked all the kinks out ahead of time!

Now all I have to do is follow in your footsteps.

Awesome work! I love the work you did on the cross member, sure makes the tranny swap whole lot easier next time...:BOW
