81 Corvette. Was trying to remove the weatherstrpping to rplace it.
Cracked the glass on the drivers side.
So.........started checking out my options.
These are marked M1131 apparently they are RARE!
I am looking at the aftermarkets from Astro T Tops.
Has anyone used them? Any feedback on them or other after market T Tops?
Are the M1131 valuable ?
Should I keep them stored away in the attic or trade them as a core for the new set?
They are offering $250.00 core value against the cost of the new ones.
Thanks

The Laminated M1131 t-top in blue tint for the (St. Louis built 81) drivers side is one of the hardest to find simply because of the fact (in my opinion) most of us have broken them! :mad I can't even wager a guess the hours I've invested with finding my replacements. (I've previously broken both of them twice over the years!):bash With that said I made the decision in June to buy the Astro Tops while at Bloomington Gold and permanently "retire" my current unbroken M1131 blue tint tops.

The only con I have with the Astro Tops is they scratch very easy. However, the pros outweigh this: They are unbreakable; the blue tint ones, while looking through them from the inside, are almost a perfect match to the M1131's ; they come with the original hardware that they get from the cores of the broken ones; all the weather-stripping is brand new -albeit lesser quality than the originals; and they weigh less than half of what the glass ones do.

The Astro Tops are black acrylic on the outside NOT mirrored glass like the M1131's. If you decide on getting the Astro's by all means send them your broken one, it's worthless.

What do you think would be a reasonable price to pay for used set of M1131 Tops?
Or just the one side by itself used in good condition?

Check ebay; they pop up there. Occasionally you can find a single side being offered for sale.

I've seen used glass tops go from $300 to $1000 for a pair.

Eckler's and other aftermarket providers have new reproductions sets for about $1200.
