Personally I think someone has their facts screwed up. This is likely the regular Z06 running laps at the Nurburgring. Why GM would suddenly be testing a supercharged verrsion of the Z06 when we haven't really seen any pics/tests of the base Z06 in Germany is beyond me...

I am not fully on board with a car that surpasses the Z06 at this point.

I dont think that the "Blue Devil" will have the same body as the C6 or C6 ZO6. Who wants to buy a $100,000.00 car that looks the same as the cars that cost 1/2 the difference. Albeit a fantastic car, if you want to sell a 100K car you really have to make it stand out and 600+ hp is not just the answer.

More than likely they are using the 06' Z06 to test out engine mods, suspension, etc... That would be why no-one has "seen" the Blue Devil. By testing it in the ZO6 body it looks no different. Thats why they mention times that surpass the ZO6.

In addition, remember in the past the General used Camero's and Caddy's to test both C4 and C5 engines, suspensions, interiors, etc...

All is possible with GM we just have to sit back and hope they build this beast!!!

Cheers -

Michael

You think they might take the engine and create a mid-engine body?

That would surely be different looking from the Corvette, and yet still be a Corvette. The only reason I believe they would stick with the Z06 body is because they already have it. I do not know how hard it would be to reconfigure the assembly line again down in Bowling Green.

I would love to see a radical Z-06, but i really doubt it will happen. GM is already set to lay off 27,000 employees, they are $1600 behind in evey new car they sell. Oldsmobile is gone and Buick or Pontiac may be next.

Spending millions to build an expensive and low volume sports car doesnt seem like a logical move.

I hope the "base" Z-06 sells well. I would like to get one in about 3 years when it looses close to half its retail value.

Very true. However how many manufactures have a car like the Corvette with 50 + years of history. Do you think they would have chosen to re-body the Corvette in the midst of their finnancial trouble if they did not think it would sell. They pretty much know that they can build 20,000 units + or - a few thousand and have no problem really selling them. Look at the "You get it at our price" deal going on now... do you see the Corvette in this program... Do in part because the car is in demand unlike other cars.

From my knowledge Corvette present a great margin for Corvette and GM however you would like to look at it. In addition Corvette is more than just making money to them.

Just my .02 take it or leave it...

Cheers!

I agree 100%.

Ford likely looses money on every GT it sells and Chrysler does the same on the Viper.........however, why spend millions of dollars on Super Bowl ads when the media will be all over your company for free when you have an awesome "halo" car like this...........how many magazine covers would be available for a 600 to 700 HP 215 MPH Corvette? You can't buy advertising like that.....and those that can't afford it beleive there is a little GT/Viper/Blue Devil in their Focus/Neon/Impala...............that's called marketing, folks....Hear me, Chevy? BUILD the Blue Devil!!!!!!
