Like the title says Im searching and im coming up empty..

I need a correct 427 for my 427/435 4 speed restoration.
my car has a july 15th build date
so I guess that puts my block casting somewhere around feb march and april 69

if you know of anywhere that I may find my engine I would really apprciate it!

Looking for the L71 are we??? Hmmm... that should cost a pretty penny. Do you know if it was tri power or not? (3x2 carbs versus 1x4)

I don't know if you want to spend the change for a phone call, but the last time I was up to this place he had several motors still in crates. I don't know if he's got what you need. I heard his brother owns Mid-America Corvette (or one of the big ones). They are nothing but a salvage yard for vettes.

Good luck.

Yep I sure am, the price factor shouldnt be too bad I already have the most important part the car!! hahaha

The 427/435 was the L71 or L89 with aluminum heads so it is shares the tri power set up with the 427/400 only the center carb is different on the 400 hp automatics, I already have the correct intake and I have more than a few leads on the correct heads all for reasonable prices....

My problem is finding a correctly dated 69 427 block that hasnt been bored over and over again.....

all the ones I have found are from late 69 I need a block from earlier in the year
I was thinking of getting one that I can use for right now while I continue my search for the right one....

I did find a few rebuildable cars there that I would like to get somedayI remeber a 78 pace car that was hit up front but wouldnt be to hard to fix!!!!!

All those cars, just wish I had money to bring them back to life!!

Tell me about it he had a few without salvage titles that just needed to be fixed up because previous owners abused thme!!
One was a 82 collecters edition he wanted 3K for???
it was rough but defenetly fixable!

Im moving to florida sometime next year so maybe if I cross my fingers it will still be there!

Just a little something for the wife you know!!

There are three 427/435 blocks/heads on eBay right now - $5,000, $6,000, and $8,000 (and rising) :eek

Phorgs was your car built July 15 1969? if so the you are technically looking for a late block from Mar-Apr 69. The right motor is out there. if you can get the wife to send you a copy of Hemmings Motor News you may have luck in there.

Hi
I'm also looking for such a block, L71 type, eraly 68, build 05Oct67.
So need a I or H 67 casting.
They are there, between 1500 and 3000 + for bare block.
To much for me. I do have correct L71 heads, but am also missing the complete square port tri-power setup, so an other 1500 to 2000. Just to get this right, we are talking about 3 to 5 K to have a clone.:mad
Man, for that price you can get a hell of an engine, but than again, not numbers matching.
Good luck in your surge.
Oh yes, if you fall over a block or engine in any condition, but rebuildable for a decent price ( like 500 to 800 for bare block ), pls let me know.
Happy new year.
Gunther

Are you guys going for #'s matching just to have an NCRS car? Or for a better resale value? Or what? Just because because?

Hey man thanks for calling sunshine

The search is still on!

johnny

Hey Gunther,
Theres a guy on the corvette forum that has a "aug 68" 427 block with a CE casting.. and he wants $1600
so nothing new looks like Ill have to save all my pennies in order to do this :hb

Im doing it so I have a correct engine in my car for NRCS judging
I bought this particular car to restore and thats what I am doing, Im going tp get a correct casting & dated block then Im going to have the machine shop look it over make sure its good then its going to be decked & restamped so it is correct for my car and to do this is not aginst the "rules" for restored car, especially when I get that Top flight award hanging on the wall it will make all the work I do worth it!

:Steer

Then ofcourse with the correct engine Ill be able to rumble down the road in one of my dream cars!!
