Too bad you didn't make this a poll. The results should be interesting.

Since I've never stored a car over winter, I'm probably not the one to be answering but, here's my 2-cents: Top Up.
 
Top up. You could possibly damage the convertible top by leaving it down too long with creases and flattening. The top was designed to be in the up position, but you can lower it (obviously) when desired.
 
Is the rationale for putting the top down to avoid stretching the fabric?
