Fairly nice weather hear at the NC/SC beach area, so my wife and I decided to cruise down to Myrtle Beach SC for some lunch and shopping. Sunny, but a bit windy.

Vette ran great - can't wait for the new tires I am going to order in a few days.

For those not familiar, the main drag through North Myrtle Beach is 3 lanes each way, and pretty crowded even this time of year. Makes me cringe sometimes, trying to keep the Vette out of trouble.

Anyhow, whyizit that every idiot in a pickup (and, yes, I also have an F-150 myself) goes crazy at the sight of a Vette and has to zoom around and make a general nuisance of themselves? Ruins my nice rides. Ditto for cycles (although none on the roads today).

What are they trying to prove? You KNOW it's no contest, and I don't make it one.

Same here in Turkey Bob. It is like "I will show this Vette who is better"... I assume they think we see our cars as race machines. I think it is inferiority complex.

Nice to know it's the same the world over! But based on the lack of comments here, I think there may be a lot of guys with pickups here also that don't want to reveal their bad side!

It is mostly the kids driving "rice eaters" or european cars here that have a desire to beat a Corvette, I never take such challenge since I am not a racing type person. Pickups are not fashionable here at all, they are mostly used for construction business purpose. That is a different thing between USA and Turkey. Probably USA and any other place?

Yeah, everybody here has pickups or SUVs. But modern pickups are a lot better than they used to be. I don't have the full crew cab (full seats in the back) but I do have an extended cab and can seat six when I need to. It rides very well, and my wife and I often take it on trips when we want to put our bicycles on the rack in the back. But having that space to haul stuff when needed is nice.

But my RIDE is the Vette!

I know, pickups are used in a different way in USA. As I said earlier they are mostly used for construction / security type of work here. They are almost never used by families. SUV's are quite common, mostly used by ladies. Don't know why.

I own an 01 Silverado Z71 - Vortec 8 - Hypertech Performance Chip - MAC Cold Air Intake - Gibson split side catback system - Hancook Tires and cutomer EPIC rims. She's black and fast. But why would some one assume there's a bad side to Pick Up owners? Many of us paid more for our pick up than we did for our Vette!

My suspicion is that some Vette owners are as boorish and obnoxious as some truck owners, rice burners, or H-D owners. Reckon there's just something about folks who own boy toys and the need to prove themselves to others.

I do not think me made any generalization that Pick Up owners have a bad side. They are just people. There is good and bad people in anything / anywhere. No offense.

Cheers,

Selim

my pickup is my daily driver, couldn't do without it....maybe he was a Vette owner just giving you a little cr*p.:naughty: :D

Interestingly, I had my last similar encounter with a pickup, too.

North County (CA) has a lot of pickups in the hands of younger, of both sexes. Family members used to talk about the resultant driving habits. There are more, and cheaper ones, everywhere these days, so the odds...............

Mine is a '55 Iffy, in pieces for a loooong time; still is.
