I have lost the ability to turn off the traction control.I was driving and "traction control disabled" was showing. I hit the button a couple of times and the squiggly tire marks went away. A hundred miles down the road i felt the need to disable the traction control but no dice. The car is a 2000 coupe with A4 and other than the infamous "turn signal problem" has been a dream for 40k miles.
I pulled the codes and got a B2597H which relates to traction control.
Is there a known problem with the switch or a relay?
As always this forum is a plethora of knowledge regarding C-5s.
Thank you for your help.

The plot thickens.... I now have no Brake Lights on the passenger side of the car... the bulbs are good.
Any ideas??

HI there,
The B2597 is showing you that either the traction control switch or the signal wire are shorted to ground.
The brake lights could be the hazard switch or the turn signal is on when your pressing your brake pedal.

c4c5,YOU'RE THE MAN!!

The hazard switch does in fact affect my brake light problem as well as the turn signals. I suspect that the switch may have gone bad on the traction control since the message just appeared by itself indicating it was disabled.I'm hoping it won't be too much of a hassel to get at. I really appreciate your attention to this problem and you really are a professional in your approach.

Check the ground splice pack, I believe its in the accordian sleeve going to the door from the A pillar. Also, remove the center console to check that the connector is firmly attached to the TC switch. It only takes ~ 4 10mm (?) bolts to get it off.

Actually, I don't think you need to remove the console. See here.

Thanks to Silver98 and Mr.Lucky

You guys are the best!! c4c5 said my errorwas the switch and I was about to tear things assunder to get at it. The link from Mr.Lucky made getting to the switch a piece of cake. The switch was stuck in a shorted position and was easily released with a little persuasion. Musta been too many ladies sitting on the center console :)
Now if i can just solve my pass. side brake lights life will be good. C4C5 was right on with the hazard switch causing the problem I just have to tear it out and replace it.Thanks again to a great group of people.

I served aboard USS Enterprise and we had a MarDet. Glad you guys went along for the ride. Great comic relief. I'll have to share a story about them with you.

Thanks for your service, semper fi to you and the rest of the Corps!
