Whats up all!!:w ,..Im haulin' the vette down to fla,..I am using 5 5,000Lb ratcheting straps, and hooking them to the tie down holes: in front of the rear wheels and behind the front wheels, and one as a safety to the rear shafts. I have put the car in reverse, pulled the e-brake all the way, and put a 4x4 block in front of the rear tire(towing reversed),..please let me know if there is anything I can do better or change to be COMPLETLY SAFE!!:D,..please advise quick as I am headin' out tomarrow.

thanks,

That's about 3 more steps than I would have thought about!! I'd say you'll be ok.

Drive Safe

Hey why on earth are you not driving your Vette to FL??? You got the best roads & traffic on earth; enjoy a nice ride with your Vette.

There are factory tie-downs on the rear frame rails, just ahead of the rear tires, and a similar set at the front in the same area, just behind the front tires. I used those when I trailered mine around the country last year.

I did not, and would not, use the half-shafts for tying anything down. There are also a couple of slots in the rear bumper mounting area, where one can slip a tie strap through. I used those on several occasions; you just have to work your way around the mufflers.

Wheels chocks area a definite must, preferably at all four corners. ;)

The most important thing to remember is to leave yourself plenty of room in traffic, and to be a defensive driver - watch out for that other guy!

Have fun! :CAC

I don't know if I read this properly, but are you putting this on a platform trailer, or a tow dolly?

Why would you back it onto the trailer? Any way, I'm certain it'll stay, but I think there are points listed to "tie down" the frame, to the trailer, so it doesn't sway arround. I some how doubt the average trailer has wheel straps which will go over the tires.

I would never use a tow dolly with a Corvette. Too many things to go wrong that I have no control over, plus I think I read it wasn't recommended in the owners manual.

Lotsa Luck!
