Me thinks they have more to worry about than an old 81 Corvette driven on occasional weekends wreaking havoc on our enviornment.

It's not just about individual inspections. For the person who relies on shops to work on their cars some of the more reputable places will refuse to accept these cars. These places are subject to inspection and if they are found to be working on a car that is not emissions compliant they could receive a large fine.

I'm going to true duals for sure before spring, no headers for now.Emission laws are tough here in Pa. even with classic plates. You are still required to run a cat, and my FORMER inspection guy looks under the car instead of the other way. I can't blame him, he could be fined thousands of dollars and lose his inspection license and be out of business. Did you order stainless or aluminized. I think I'm going stainless with Magnaflow stainless mufflers.:v
I suggest that you look up the Pa emissions law and take it with you when you go for your annual inspection. Pa inspection law states that if you have a classic tag your inspection mechanic may not even take into consideration whether you have a catalytic converter on the car or not. This is in there because you are exempt from any kind of emissions inspection. When I got my classic tag this statement was included with the new title the state sent me. I forgot to take it with me when I went for my inspection and the first 3 places tried to tell me that I still had to have the emissions test (can you say $35 to $40) and one tried to sell me an exempt sticker for $35. Finally I found one that knew what he was doing. He just asked me how many miles were on the car and then asked me if everything worked. Then he slapped an inspection sticker on without doing anything and asked for $20. Guess who I'm going back to next yr. The corvette specialist who I normally go to for anything serious has told me many times that I don't need a catalytic converter with a classsic tag and he is an inspection mechanic. Since I got the tag I went to Meineke muffler to have them remove it but they won't take it off unless I have them replace it with a new one. Company policy(more money).

I purchased the standard pipes. My car has 36,000 original miles and it's rarely seen rain or snow. I average about a 1,250 miles per year and I believe I'm the third owner. The original pipes are in great shape so I figure the standard replacements will last a long long time. The pipes should be delivered by the end of the week and I can't wait for spring to install them.
I hope to have new headers to install too.
