I have a question about the turn signals on my 01 coupe. Three times I have noticed that I have no turn signals, then all of a sudden they are back. One of the times you could hear a rapid signal sound, but they were not on. When this happens I still have hazard flashers. I checked all bulbs, as suggested in the owners manual. I am open to any thoughts on what is the next step. ;shrug
Thanks for any help.

I had the same problem with my 98 mustang. :mad Turn's out the turn signal flasher was bad. It did not happen all the time, and no way of telling when it would happen.;shrug
Replaced flasher and no more problem.:upthumbs

Hi there,
this is most likely due to the hazard switch being shorted.

Over time, oxidation creates this condition.

Cycling the hazard switch cleans the contacts for a little while, but it will come back.

Should the hazard switch be replaced, or is there a way to clean the contacts?

Thanks

Same thing here.

HI there,

I have seen both, the revised switch from GM has been redesigned for better reliability.

I agree, Hazard Switch problem. Apparently some or part of the wiring goes through the hazard circuit (I never did get the diagram out to check).

The first time I noticed it was just tooling along and upon making the turn, noticed the turn signal...wasn't! I recalled reading on these forums the switch problem, so I gave the switch a series of pushes and it cleaned off the contacts enough to make it work. Not a permanent solution, but a quick fix.

So, my question is...Just how much difficulty is it to replace the hazard switch?

thanks for the help. that is why I joined this forum, to get help with just these kind of things and to learn about corvettes.

c4c5 is right about your problem and solution. He helped me with the same problem w/my
2000 coupe. In addition to replacing the hazzard switch, the turn signal stalk needed replacing as well and after two years the problem has not resurfaced.
Good luck with your task.

Thanks to everyone who replied to this thread. I have a hazard switch on order and I am betting it fixes the problem. I will let you know once it is installed.

thanks again

I had the same issue and the dealer replaced my hazard switch and never had the issue again. I heard they needed to remove the whole dash to get to the switch. Thank god it was under warranty or it would of been a lot out of my pocked due to the labor.

Tigershark,
I am convinced that replacing the hazard switch will cure my problem.
Thanks for letting me know it worked for you. :thumb

I had the hazard switch replaced today. Early results look good. :) The true test will be this weekend, when we take the 01 to Bowling Green. We have a tour of the factory lined up for Monday morning and of course will do the musuem at least once or twice.
I really appreciate the help I recieved from this forum. I was at a loss on what to do until some great input from everyone. :thumb

We just got back from Bowling Green, (which was great):upthumbs
Put 1500 miles on the car and the turn signals never missed a beat.:D
Thanks to everyone who helped me with this, especially c4c5 specialist.
