I just got done changing out my original water pump with 135,000 on it. Got vacation coming up in 2 weeks. Figured I best to flush the system and change it out while Iam it. I thought I heard the bearings making noise, but now after changing my old water pump out, the noise I heard is still there (comes and goes) (think it is probably normal and most probably the ac stuff)

But to upset me more, now I have a new noise. The new water pumps making a whining noise thats pretty annoying. The new pump is doing its job and flowing the water fine and has no leaks but makes noise.

Anybody experience this?

My dad says to add a tablespoon of my Mobil 1 Synthetic oil to the radiator (and thats it is an old trick from back in the day) Can I/should I do this or will it harm the vettes coolant system?

thanks
jeff

never heard that on, mobil one in the coolant, but i don think water a oil mix? there are things on the market that lube the water pump at auto part stores. what brand is the new water pump? got a warrenty with it?

I thought my waterpump bearing was going bad (making niose) when I removed it I found that the harmonic balancer was coming apart at the rubber and it was rubbing on the timing chain cover. You might check it.
